Pagudpud, Laoag City, Vigan
From Pagudpud where we accidentally stayed overnight because I fell ill, my niece and I went back to Laoag City to get our things and check out at Texicano Hotel at 12 noon.
From the hotel, tricycle brought us at PARTAS BUS STATION/TERMINAL, which is just 2-3 mins away from the hotel. The ticket booth was closed so I looked around.
There is a mini tourism desk at the terminal so I went there. The lady at the desk was kind enough to accommodate all my questions and she even called us when the Partas bus going to BAGUIO arrived. I was even foolish to ask why Baguio signage ..lol . The lady told me it will pass Vigan City because of its Laoag-Vigan-Baguio route. Now I know.!!
Partas Bus Terminal
J.P.Rizal Street, Laoag City
Tel: (077) 771 1514
Fare: P135.00 each (Laoag- Vigan)
We departed Laoag at 12:25 pm and arrived at VIGAN City at 2:45pm (almost 2 and half hours travel). We boarded off at the Plaza and at that time there are so many people because street dancing will take place that day because it's Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival 2013 Street Dancing competition 2013.
With no reservations at any hotel yet, my niece and I walked up to Calle Crisologo with our luggage in tow under the scorching heat of the sun. We should have taken a tricycle but since we don't know yet where to stay so we just walked...lol
Reading at my Vigan hotels lists, I asked a local where is Granpa's Inn and Restaurant located. Too bad, there's no more room available when we got there. The hotel staff was very nice, he even phoned ANICETO MANSION to inquire if there is a vacant room and thankfully there is vacant room for 2.
Before going at Aniceto, we passed by Vigan Plaza Hotel to inquire for their overnight rates but it was out of my budget. We just chose RF ANICETO MANSION at #1 Calle Crisologo in front of Plaza Burgos. Perfect location!
Rate: 1,700.00 (for 2 pax) with AC and own bathroom. A little bit expensive (for me) but was good enough since the location is already at Crisologo St. and the room is very nice. I'll post a more detailed review of the hotel later.
We had a very late lunch at 3:30 pm just near Plaza Salcedo where lots of eatery and tiangge are there because of the Fiesta.
Places that we've visited in Vigan on our 1st day there:
Calle Crisologo - World Heritage Site
After resting for a while, we immediately went at the famous CALLE CRISOLOGO where the WORLD HERITAGE SITE is located. My niece and I were both excited to see all the old houses, furniture, the karitelas and all.
Ahhhh...too bad, I wasn't able to take a decent photo of Plaza Burgos because during that time there are lots of people gathering there because of the street dancing preparation.
Ilocos Sur Capitol
Pagburnayan – Jar making
The owner graciously allowed us to go inside their jar making factory and even lets us to make our own jar with the aid of his helper. Gave the helper P50.00.
St. Augustine Parish Church and Bantay Bell Tower
Crisologo Street – watched street dancing
Plaza Salcedo – Lights and SoundOur schedule for the day is fully-packed but we enjoyed so much all the places and the festivities while we are there. Not quite sure why I didn't crave for Ilocano dishes while we are there. I guess because I am already used in eating bagnet and pinakbet so I didn't bother to taste one again in Vigan. Just had dinner Chowking at 8pm.
We strolled Crisologo street and tiangge to look around and bought some more souvenir. We got back at Aniceto Mansion at 10:00 pm already where we are staying.
TIP: Try to get a hotel near Calle Crisologo street because you can just walk back there even late at night. Calle Crisologo is also beautiful during night time so don't fail to stay overnight while you are there.
